🏖️ Monmouth History: This week marks 95 years since the Monmouth County Historical Association’s museum and library opened in 1931. Architect J. Hallam Conover loosely based the brick Colonial Revival building on George Washington’s Mount Vernon.
Today is Leif Erikson Day, a U.S. observance honoring the 10th-century Norse explorer credited with visiting North America.
Today’s Must See: 9 to 5 returns to theaters today, Friday, Oct. 9, through Thursday, Oct. 15, in a newly restored version of the workplace comedy starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin. Disney will donate its net proceeds from U.S. ticket sales to support Dolly’s Imagination Library, which provides free books to children. (More)

The award-winning documentary follows Dr. Denise Wunderler and Dr. Michael Savino after their toddler daughter’s unexplained death and their efforts to raise awareness of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood. 365> Asbury Park Museum launched a $500,000 campaign to create its permanent home inside Interfaith Neighbors’ Marmora Center, scheduled to open in fall 2027. Plans include a recreated 1960s WJLK radio studio. (More)
365> Middletown: The Wilson Avenue bus commuter parking lot in Port Monmouth permanently closed Oct. 6 after the property was sold. Existing permits can be used at the Thompson Avenue commuter lot in North Middletown while the township seeks another location. (More)
365> Neptune: A proposed West Lake Avenue redevelopment would add 31 homes, including two affordable units, along with retail space, offices, and a restaurant with an upstairs outdoor terrace. (More)
365> Neptune City: The Borough Council awarded a contract to install pickleball and tennis courts at Adams Field as part of the park’s third phase of improvements. The project is supported by a $361,817 Monmouth County Open Space Grant. (More)

365> Ushering in Autumn brings Japanese taiko drumming and contemporary dance to Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 2-4 pm. Tickets are $45 for the general public and $30 for members. (Tickets)
365> Winetober Weekend brings wine-tasting specials and live music to Renault Winery’s Wine & Beer Garden in Egg Harbor City on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10-11. Loose Ends plays Saturday, and Fat Mezz performs Sunday. Tickets are $15 per person. (More)
365> Terhune Orchards’ Fall Family Fun Weekends combine pumpkin picking, corn and hay-bale mazes, wagon rides, live music, and a wine orchard in the Princeton area on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 1, from 10 am - 5 pm. 365> Scarecrows in the Village fills Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, Pennsylvania, with more than 100 handmade creations through Monday, Oct. 26.
