Good Morning, Monmouth County! ☀️

🏖️ Monmouth History: In August, 1904, William James "Count" Basie was born in Red Bank. A pianist, he played vaudeville before eventually forming his own big band and helping define the era of swing with hits like One O'Clock Jump.

Monday Motivation: The smallest step forward puts yesterday behind you. Take a step, even if you’re scared or anxious. Birds land on branches, and we sit on chairs, believing we will not fall.

Speaking of steps forward, it’s time to add more FUN to our daily meetings. Many of you have emailed our crew asking for puzzles. Starting today, we’ll have a Games & Puzzles section at the bottom of every edition. We’re replacing our daily Poll with Trivia, continuing our super-popular Only in Monmouth picture game, and introducing a new word puzzle called WORD CURRENT. On Friday, we’ll introduce Born This Way, Twin Lights, and Which Exit? We’re still deciding which will run when, so let us know what you think and which you like best!

As ever, thank you for your support and for joining us each day. We appreciate you!

Fair Haven’s Shrewsbury River Yacht Club began in 1910 as the Players Boat Club, founded by Broadway performers who spent their summers in the borough. Its first headquarters was a houseboat, before the club’s present clubhouse was built on pilings over the water in 1929. The historic club is now listed on both the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places.
