365> Monmouth County: The weekend nor’easter flooded streets in Sea Bright, Long Branch, and Monmouth Beach, while minor flooding occurred along the Navesink River during Saturday morning’s high tide. Officials activated Port Monmouth’s flood-control system ahead of the storm, closed the township library for the weekend, and canceled or postponed municipal recreation and arts events. 365> Middletown: A public meeting on the proposed Oceanic Bridge replacement takes place at the Municipal Building on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 6–8 pm. 365> Matawan Regional High School was locked down and evacuated Friday morning after a bomb threat was reported. Police and assisting agencies searched the Aberdeen campus, found the building and grounds safe, and allowed students and staff to return; the investigation into the threat remains open. (More)

365> The Atlantic Club’s owner, Genesis Health Clubs, purchased the former Super Foodtown property for $13.5 million to relocate and build a new club. The move cleared the way for developer Roger Mumford to place the current three-acre Atlantic Club property and 13 adjacent parcels along Wikoff Place under contract for a potential residential townhome community. Friday’s Only in Monmouth: Monmouth Beach Cultural Center occupies the borough’s oldest public building, which opened in 1894 as U.S. Life-Saving Service Station No. 4. The Ocean Avenue landmark later housed the U.S. Coast Guard and New Jersey State Marine Police. Saved from demolition, it began a new chapter as the Cultural Center in 2000.
