🏖️ Monmouth History: This week in 1893, poet, short-story writer, critic, and screenwriter Dorothy Parker was born in Long Branch while her parents were visiting their summer home. Parker became a founding member of New York City’s famed Algonquin Round Table and wrote for publications including The New Yorker and Vanity Fair. She also worked as a Hollywood screenwriter and earned two Academy Award nominations.
