🏖️ Jersey Shore Throwback: On July 21, 1917, legendary escape artist and entertainer Harry Houdini returned to Monmouth County with his wife, Bess, his brother Theodore “Hardeen” Weiss, and a group of magicians from New York City, to visit a colleague who was living in Keansburg. The trip was three years after Houdini had come to Asbury Park with his brothers to visit the hotel room where their mother had died in 1913, while Harry was touring in Europe.

TOP STORY: Clam Fest Celebrates Highlands’ History
Before the charter boats, waterfront restaurants, and summer crowds, Highlands was known for something else: clams. For generations, local baymen worked the waters of Sandy Hook Bay and the lower Raritan Bay, harvesting hard clams that helped support families, local businesses, and the borough's economy. That heritage will once again take center stage when the 31st Annual Highlands Clam Fest returns to Huddy Park from July 31 through Aug. 2, celebrating a tradition rooted in the town's working waterfront.
